MELTY WORKS
A moment to unwind in the city.
MELTY WORKS in Nerima specialises in shaved ice topped with freshly prepared fruit syrups, from seasonal white peach and plum to melon, layered with rich textures.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
When your spoon sinks into the mound of ice, it feels remarkably airy, dissolving instantly on the tongue. Located in Toyotamakami, Nerima Ward, MELTY WORKS is a shaved-ice specialist that pairs freshly prepped fruit syrups with finely shaved ice. Opened as a direct outpost of the popular Shibuya shop Sabo Okunoshibuya, it has built a reputation for its light ice texture and thoughtfully composed, layered bowls.
The menu highlights seasonal fruit preparations. The "Peach" bowl uses white peaches shipped directly from contracted farms in Yamanashi, gently warmed with a touch of spice to create a syrup that can be paired with mascarpone milk or royal milk tea. As you work your way through, panna cotta, berry confit, and toasted almond crumble emerge from within, delivering contrasting textures and evolving flavours much like a parfait. Adding a dollop of thick sweet cream bean paste (cream an) is another popular touch for an extra layer of richness.
For a brighter, tangy profile, the "Plum" bowl showcases tart-sweet syrup stewed from Amami-grown plums alongside cut fruit pieces tucked inside. Diners can enjoy it with a refreshing yoghurt milk base or opt for pure plum syrup alone to experience the vibrant fruit in its purest form. More adventurous combinations also appear, such as "Melon And Namahamu," which combines fresh juice syrup from Ibaraki Quincy melon with Andes melon, prosciutto, sweet miso paste, and house-made ricotta cheese for an intriguing sweet-and-savoury balance.
Guests order and settle the bill before taking their seats. Payment can be made with credit cards as well as PayPay and Rakuten Pay. Complimentary self-service options, including fruit-infused cold water and hot tea, are a thoughtful accompaniment between spoonfuls of chilled ice. As reservation availability varies from day to day, checking the shop's latest business notices before heading out ensures a smooth visit.
